UN warning: only 10 years to avoid global catastrophe caused by climate change

A new UN report shows that a global catastrophe will be inevitable if greenhouse gas emissions are not significantly reduced by 2035. This organization emphasizes that the increase in greenhouse gases and climate change have severely affected the lives of humans and ecosystems. If immediate action is not taken, serious consequences await humanity.

Scientists have repeatedly warned that if the Earth's average temperature rises by more than 3°C compared to pre-industrial levels, the consequences for humans and the environment will be catastrophic. Last year, greenhouse gas emissions hit record levels, and the United Nations said we have just 10 years to make serious policy changes to avoid the worst effects of climate change.

This report, considered one of the most severe climate warnings so far, emphasizes that the world is on the verge of a climate crisis and that greenhouse gases are increasing the temperature. According to this report, to limit the increase in temperature to less than 1.5 degrees Celsius, the countries of the world must reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 42% by 2030, and this amount should reach 57% by 2035.

In particular, in the Paris Agreement of 2015, the goal of lowering the temperature to 1.5 degrees was set. Based on the current data, different countries should act quickly and in a coordinated manner to prevent serious damage caused by climate change and save future generations from dangerous consequences.

Greenhouse gases (GHGs) play a vital role in the health of the earth and humans, but their excessive increase can have serious consequences. In the following, I will point out some statistics and facts about the importance and effects of greenhouse gases on health:

  1. Natural greenhouse effect: Without the presence of natural greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (CO₂), methane (CH₄) and nitrous oxide (N₂O), the average temperature of the earth would be about 33 degrees Celsius lower than the current temperature, and this would prevent life on the planet. Earth makes it impossible.
  2. Temperature rise: According to the United Nations, the average global temperature has increased by approximately 1.1 degrees Celsius since the pre-industrial era by 2021. This increase in temperature has led to serious climate crises, such as floods, hurricanes and droughts.
  3. Impact on health: It is estimated that from 2030 to 2050, climate change could lead to 250,000 deaths per year due to heat-related diseases, malnutrition, malaria and diabetes.
  4. Air pollution: 7 million people die each year due to air pollution, which is directly related to the emission of greenhouse gases and fossil fuels.
  5. Food and water: According to reports, climate change could cause a 10-30% reduction in agricultural production in vulnerable areas by 2050, which in turn will lead to increased food insecurity and health problems.
  6. Migration and humanitarian crises: It is predicted that by 2050, 200 million people will be forced to leave their homes due to climate change, fueling new humanitarian and health crises.

These statistics show that greenhouse gas management is necessary not only for the protection of the environment but also for the preservation of human health.
