
Holding the first national conference on the future and sustainability of the environment at the University of Tehran
The first national conference on the future and sustainability of the environment on Sunday, Mehr 8, 1403 by Ares International Campus, University of Tehran, Faculty of Environment, University of Tehran, Scientific Association of Engineering and Waste Management of Iran and the scientific participation of the Scientific Association of Health, Safety and Environmental Management and Engineering Life of Iran (HSEME) was held a few minutes ago in the central campus of Tehran University.
The conference started with the report of Dr. Hassan Darabi, Professor of the Faculty of Environment, University of Tehran, Secretary of the Scientific Committee of the conference, and it started with the priority of the scientific axes of the received articles and the judging process, future challenges and opportunities in the environment and sustainability.
After that, Dr. Nasser Mehrdadi, Dean of the Faculty of Environment, University of Tehran, while welcoming all the audience, announced his readiness to develop scientific and educational cooperation, such as holding educational workshops and participation in international fields and in national priority projects such as mentioned environmental sustainability, climate change, etc.
And then Dr. Mohammad Javad Mohammadizadeh, the former head of the Environmental Protection Organization, who is currently in charge of the Climate Change and Health Center located in Dezful University of Medical Sciences, gave a speech.
The main topics he mentioned were based on the future of the environment with the approach of measures to adapt to climate change, environmental sustainability and conditions of resilience in climate change. Dr. Mohammadizadeh further pointed out that climate change caused by human activities has led to rapid and extensive changes in the atmosphere, ocean, glaciers, and the biosphere, and 2023 was significantly the hottest year on record with extreme weather and this trend It has continued in the first half of 2024.
While pointing out that the global emission of greenhouse gases (GHG) has increased by 1.2% from 2021 to 2022 and has reached 57.4 billion tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2); They drew the attention of the participants to the increase in the global average concentration of CO2, methane (CH4) and nitrogen oxide (N2O), which has now reached its highest level, and prioritized environmental approaches in solving problems around climate change adaptation solutions. Drought and the benefit of new energies such as wind energy, which has a high potential in Iran, especially in the northeast and southeast of the country, and finally paying attention to the country's governance structures and mechanisms and the need to strengthen and develop the areas of territorial governance, the role of the Conservation Organization They mentioned the environment.
In the following, Dr. Abdoreza Karbassi, Professor of the Faculty of Environment, University of Tehran and the head of the conference, pointed out the importance of paying attention to the environmental pricing of energy production and the pollution caused by it in all sectors and industries and called it a main and promising solution to solve the challenge.
